July 1 Canada Day BBQ CANCELLED

Due to the lack of response and interest as well as the anticipated poor weather, the July 1 BBQ at Needles and DD's has been cancelled.  Should the weather turn better and the ride goes ahead as planned, there still will NOT be a BBQ on Tuesday.

Wet ride home

Sunday, June 28th ride to Chippawa Falls

Well it started out overcast but warm when Noella and I met Raymond and Wayne at Staples parking lot at 11:00 am and we were on the road by 11:20. We joined up with Dana and Brent at the corner of their road at Highway 17N then continued on.  We stopped at Haviland Bay for a washroom break then headed for Chippewa Falls .

After we got there, we chatted for awhile and Noella and Dana checked out the falls. After the chat and enjoying the outdoors, we all went over to the Chippewa Falls Restaurant and had something to eat.  THAT'S when it started to rain and we had to evacuate the patio for an inside table. (LOL)

It wasn't too bad when we were getting ready to leave but once we were on the road it got nasty.  In a couple of spots, I even put my 4 - way flashers on the rain was coming down so hard.  Then the wind got up and it got really nasty so Noella and I, Brent and Dana and Wayne all pulled over at Haviland Bay to wipe our shields and glasses.  It was there that the rain started to slow down and it had stopped by the time we hit Mile Hill.
Now that was a Sunday Ride we won't forget for awhile. Anyway, everyone made it home safely. Yes, Raymond too. Raymond had left a few minutes ahead of us thinking he was going to beat the storm home . . . but he didn't. (LOL) He rode through the same weather as we did .

Well be safe and don't be shy about joining us.  You all know where we are and when we ride. (Sundays and Tuesday evenings, weather permitting.)

I know some of you haven't rode yet this year with us and that's okay. If you're too busy or your bike isn't running you can still come out, meet with us and have coffee just to catch up on what's going on with everyone.

"Heads Up" Ride to raise awareness of acquired brain injury

June 21 members of the Canadian Motorcycle Cruiser Sault Ste. Marie 032 joined with the Sault Ste. Marie Branch of the Ontario Brain Injury Association to mark June as Brain Injury Awareness Month and to highlight the OBIA's "D.O.N.T. - Drive Only Not Text" campaign.

Over 50 riders from our CMC group, BRO, HOG and others were escorted by city and OPP motorcycle patrol officers on an hour long ride around Sault Ste. Marie.

Elizabeth Eddy, chair of the OBIA SSM branch, noted in her presentation the marked increase in head and brain injuries as a result of texting while driving and using cellphones.  Texting and cellphone use has now overtaken impaired driving as the leading cause of acquired brain injuries.
